Amphora
Much of Spain was ruled by the Moors from 718AD for over 700 years and their influence was widespread, particularly in the south. As a result the Moors introduced many of the irrigation systems which contributed to better farming; they introduced a wide variety of new fruits and the architecture of their castles and mosques were distinctive. Many of the traditions of Spain originate from the Moors as do many of the words in the language. The re-conquest of Spain by the Christians is widely celebrated. This picture was taken in a Moorish bath house in Palma, Majorca. The earthy rooms and these amphoras made for a simple composition of colour and form. | ||
