Maria Castela

This is a portrait of my wife Maria. We were staying at the Hostel Dos Reis Catolicos in Santiago de Compostela. The hostal originated as a Royal Hospital in 1499. It provided shelter and care to the numerous pilgrims who had arrived in city after walking or travelling great distances. The hotel is normally considered too expensive and luxurious by most pilgrims now, but the soft beds, bath and great breakfast in this spectacular building is well worth it after such a journey.
